We love living in the Evergreen Community, best decision we made was to downsize and moving into our new home, we have been here for 5 years.  Our community look after each other helping with bins, mail, shopping if you are unwell, etc. Sharyn and Annie are so helpful, always organising functions for us all, like Christmas in July, Market Day, Bingo, Knitting Group, Lawn Bowls, and we are one big happy family.

Our Clubroom is beautiful and available for us to for private functions, we recently had my 80th birthday and all our family commented on our fantastic amenities.  We are close to hospitals, doctors, shops, and our family.

This is why I like living in Evergreen.

On Thursday 6th of July my daughter Lisa could not get me on the phone and my mobile was out of credit. Lisa panicked and she rang my neighbour Noel, but he was out visiting. Noel came straight home to see if I was alright, he rang Lisa to tell her my phone was out of order. I was grateful for a kind neighbour. Half an hour later my dear friend Janet came over in the rain to tell me my son Colin was worried that he could not get me on the phone. Janet bought her mobile phone over, so I was able to call my son and put his mind at rest.

It may be interesting for new residents coming into the Village why I like living in Evergreen as people look out for each other. The two managers are very helpful and are always there for you.

A Very Happy Resident

I first considered coming to Evergreen after meeting Mary Walker and Bev Hinton at a carers’ support group in Pakenham. They were very happy here. It’s 3 years since I moved in with my husband.  He had been ill for some years and the large house and garden in Narre Warren became too much for me.  We moved in to our villa which I love.  There was plenty of room to manoeuvre his wheelchair.  Sometime later, he had to enter aged care and fortunately he was able to go into McGregor Gardens.  Being in the same grounds meant I could bring him home each day in the wheelchair. After he died, it was so nice to be here amongst lovely people who were so friendly.  The position is excellent as it is so close to everything you need and it is flat, no hills to climb.  The gardens are always kept neat and tidy and what can I say about the wonderful Con? Ever helpful and obliging.  There has been some great entertainment and wonderful speakers organised by Sharyn.  Lovely meals have been organised in the clubrooms by the committee.  The residents have been very generous in making donations to many charities.  (Many thanks for the milk bottle tops, keep them coming).  I am very happy living in Evergreen.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Marlene and I have been living here at the Evergreen Retirement Village for just over 17 months. I really enjoy living here as I get to choose to participate in the many social activities available or just enjoy my own company. Each month on the third Thursday we come together to have lunch, this is to celebrate residents’ birthdays as well as welcoming new residents. I have found the people to be friendly and helpful. Our social committee are always planning something of interest to bring us together.

Walking down the little streets and cul de sacs with our Chow Jacob, we are still amazed that we actually ‘bit the bullet’ and sold our lovely home of 34 years to come to Evergreen. Best thing we ever did! Such a warm friendly environment – people wave, say hello, smile, stop for a quick chat, and ask about Jacob.

We moved in just before Easter and settled in almost immediately. We live in a lovely cul de sac/court with wonderful cheery caring neighbours and enjoy sitting out the front in the morning having coffee, or out the back for a bar- be- cue in the evening.

Nothing fancy about Evergreen, no swimming pool, no hairdresser, no coffee shops…… but that’s the reason we chose Evergreen. Simple, warm friendly environment of like-minded people.

Annie and Sharon have always been and are, extremely helpful to us and have responded immediately to any request or query and nothing is too difficult for them to assist us with. Don’t reckon you would get that in the BIG villages!! Thanks also goes to the wonderful Con for all his help as well. You don’t have to go to everything that has been arranged at the Clubhouse, just go to what you feel you want to. There is so much to choose from, there is always something for someone to enjoy.

I moved into Evergreen Village 11 months ago, and I am so happy I made this move. It was a big move for me as I am 91 and didn’t know anyone is Pakenham except my daughter and her family. I had lived in the one house for 63 years.

The people in the village are very friendly and now I know quite a few people I can count on as my friends.

It is a relief and wonderful to have a good gardener to look after my front garden for me as I can no longer kneel down to do the weeding.

I appreciate having a handy man to do the bits and pieces I cannot do anymore.

I really feel so snug as a bug in a rug in my lovely villa.

Sheila

We love living in the village as you always have people around you and if you get sick there are always those who support you and check out what they can do to help you. When the weather is nice it is food to sit around the BBQ area and have a get together. There are activities in the club house where you can all go and be entertained and catch up with others you don’t see very often. The gardens are looking very nice and help to keep everyone cheery. The shops are close by with no hills to worry about when walking.

For us it has been the best thing we did.

I moved into Evergreen Retirement Village 6 years ago. It was the best move I could have done. The managers of our village are really great, and we have a lot of fun with them. Here you can be private or mix with people when you want. My neighbours are really great we have quite a lot of fun together. Being a small village, you seem to know just about everyone, so come and join us.

Dee

Hi guys, my name is Noel and I have been living at Evergreen Retirement Village for nearly 6 years and thoroughly enjoy every day here. We have fantastic managers Anne and Sharyn. They are more like family here, we have fantastic neighbours in the village, you can go for coffee anytime of the day. I know nearly everyone in the village. In lockdown I dressed up several times as Cleopatra, Mrs Doubtfire, and Vegetable Queen of Evergreen. I would not want to live anywhere else but Evergreen. I would highly recommend it to anyone who would want to move to retirement but it’s got to be Evergreen Retirement Village.

Noel

We would recommend any retired people to buy a Villa here where they will enjoy themselves and meet new friendly people. We moved into our new Villa at Evergreen Retirement Village in October 2016 to commence the next phase of our lives in order to enjoy our remaining years in a quiet and friendly environment.

‍The Village is well presented and maintained by 2 excellent maintenance men who do anything you ask and nothing is too much trouble for them.

‍The 2 lovely ladies, Anne and Sharyn, keep the Village in order and organise so many activities to keep our lives active. Both need medals for the fabulous job they do.
